Shopping is no problem with a wide range of small stores and a supermarket in Eymet, more sophisticated shopping in Bergerac and of course wonderful markets in all surrounding villages on different days of the week.Wine enthusiasts are well served, with the vineyards of Bordeaux and St.Emilion less than 60 miles away.

Being self-employed I am usually at 'Sage' from March to November - living in the main house which is quite separate from the pigeonnier. This means I can keep the garden green and growing, maintain the lawns and offer fresh vegetables and fruit if and when I have a surplus. I like to think that the garden and general 'ambience' (for want of a better word) are amongst the most appealing things about Le Sage. As the house has been in our family since 1973 I know the area well and am glad to pass on any information which may help you to enjoy the area as much as we have done.

The main house is on the telephone, which you are welcome to use if necessary. We have a ping-pong table in a shaded area behind the barn, some reasonable bicycles and a supply of books, magazines, tapes and well-used childrens toys. There is not a lot of night-life in the area (which could be a problem if you have older teenage children), but there are wonderful restaurants at all price levels and the local people are unusually helpful and friendly.
