The Pigeonnier
Our farmhouse, known as 'Le Sage', is set on a hill overlooking the valley of the River Dropt. It is 25 kms south of Bergerac and 4 kms from the 13th century medieval village of Eymet - once held by the Black Prince in the days of the 100 Years War. The old limestone house and outbuildings stand in 6 acres of private land and the surrounding area is predominantly agricultural - grapes, strawberries, sunflowers, green beans and plums.

The pigeonnier (once a grain store and pigeon loft) faces south and has accommodation for up to 4 people on three floors. Looking at the building from the front - to the left is the living/dining room (5 x 4 metres), which has a tiled floor and a cast iron woodburning stove under an old stone chimney. The ground floor of the 'tower' itself is a kitchen (4 x 4 metres) leading to the terrace which is partly covered by a grape vine in summer. On the first floor is a small shower room with loo and basin and a bedroom with two 3' beds, a small south window and a large window overlooking the terrace and huge barn (which also serves as a garage). The top floor is open plan to the stairwell. Here there is a double bed and windows on three sides with beautiful views to the north, south and west. Furnishings throughout are simple, comfortable and trouble-free.
