Dear friends

I feel this would be the right moment to speak about my younger sister Lyn, who was with Nicholas in the car when the tragic accident occurred. She is undergoing major surgery at a hospital in Johannesburg as I write this.

Lyn is a close confidant and friend of mine, as well as a supportive and insightful sibling. As her 20th birthday approaches (10th February), I look at the depth and strength of this remarkable young woman. For one of her age, she has developed a surprisingly incisive and broad awareness into the nature of life. Surely it was this rare maturity that, through the varied and multiple correspondence with Nicholas over the past 6 months, lead him to decide to visit Lyn in South Africa and engage her in the research that both found effective and rewarding in the road toward betterment.

Lyn was extremely excited about the prospect of hosting Nicholas and showing him parts of South Africa. She spoke with myself and Dan and Kim, our two older siblings, on how honored she was to have this precious opportunity to meet and learn from one such as Nicholas.

Although sedated she has remained lucid about the events that lead up to and since the accident. At this moment in time, besides being in excruciating pain with a crushed shoulder bone and broken arm and hand, she is deeply hurt and saddened by the tragic event that lead to Nicholas’ death.

When I first spoke with Lyn yesterday she described to me the immediate sense of connection she and Nicholas had upon meeting. She elaborated on how he spoke openly and at length with her about the events in his life that had lead up to this point, and she described the sense of comfort they shared in each others prescence - even if for such a short time. She was very impressed with him.

I am not clear how this riveting shock is going to effect her life, but surely it will. Her view of life is based on the precious opportunity we, as humans, have to grow and nurture the spirit and follow truth. There may be a day when some of you will meet my sister, and I would hope that the sensitivity needed for her continuing to walk with strength and courage along her path will be apparent to her. This event will undeniably be one of the most difficult pivotal points in her world. In my own way I wish to support the healing of the whole situation.

Nicholas’ and Lyn’s respective fields will inevitably merge and it may be that many people will make connection through this.

May it be that through this unexpected twist of fate, Nicholas’ vision for an open world make manifest and multiply.

May his accumulated merit lead him further and higher.

May the winds carry his essence to where it should be.

With my deepest condolences friends,

Love
Guy Lieberman
